You can now go from a super clean shimmer, to a warm clean crunch, to a stack style distortion to a full on lead tone as simply as stepping on a switch - which is included with the amp (FS4).The by word for the VH100R is flexibility - flexibility of tone and flexibility of use. In this day and age the modern guitar player has an arsenal of products available to them - from single stomp box effects to mighty racks. To cater for this level of choice the VH100R is fitted with five premium ECC83 preamp tubes and four premium EL84 output tubes.  "Laney VH100R" 2010-02-04
By Brian Au (Illinios)
First I have to say this is just an incredible head! It has two channels but with the gain boost it acts like more like a four. I 've had mine for 9 years and going and I never had a single problem with it. It's always worked and performed flawlessly whenever I fire her up. I like that fact that the power tube sockets are mounted on the chasis instead of the board and also like the fact that Laney uses Toroidal transformers which are more expensive to manufacture. Other than that this amp has the goods! The FX loop chain is very cleverly thought out. You can dedicate separate pedals to your channels without altering your sound or configuration with your amp. Brilliant! One thing I can't believe it that this amp has been designed around the mid 90s and hardly anything has changed about it except for the mounted handles. Other than that? It's be tried and true to be the same as it was in the 90's, more importantly all those features has been just as useful today as it was back then. I love the sound of this amp! I can get clean jazzy tones to full saturated distortion. I don't even need pedal for leads. It's that good! This amp does have a very sensitive and interactive tone shaping features so it may take some time to fine tune your sound but I like that way because it gives you the flexibility to find new possibilities and I always do. I seem to always make some adjustments after a few weeks to months and even a year to only find out that I got a better sound than I did from the previous configuration. All it all I've owned many amps, Marshall, Peavey, Orange, Egnater, Mesa, Fender, Rivera and Engl and I have to say they all have something good to offer but at the same time there are things that they lack. The VH100R has exactly what I look for in an amp!

 "Best Value 100W Head" 2009-10-07
By B. Meyer (Minneapolis, MN)
I've had this head for at least 5 years now and have never had a single issue at all. Depending upon which cabs you use this can either be one of the greatest sounding heads you'll ever play (I'm using a G-Flex 2x12 at the moment and previously had the Peavey Shffield deal that was a 5150 without the logo) or an absolute dog (sounds terrible with the Ampeg/Crate and Jackson cabs I used to have).

A great comparison is to a Mesa Dual or Triple Rectifier, though with the welcome addition of reverb. The 4 button footswitch goes between absolute clean (Twin Reverb-esque) to a slightly overdriven clean (think a Deluxe Reverb that's being pushed or perhaps a Twin with a Tube Screamer) which share an EQ and reverb, to the dirty channel (easily gets a great Marshall sound, overdrive with punch) and the "evil" knob as a friend calls it (the dirtiest nastiest most distorted sounds you can imagine) that share an EQ and reverb. It's basically setup as A/B channels with each one having their own boost. There is also an on/off switch for the reverb on the footswitch.

The FX Loop options are out of this world, allowing you to do a loop on each of the two main channels as well as an all encompassing loop. My only gripe there is that there isn't an on/off option. Other than that, let your creativity flow with however you want to set it up.

As far as a 100W goes, the reverb they give you is actually pretty stellar. It's well shaped and the curve is quite pleasant.

There is a master resonance switch that tweaks the output based upon your cab and each channel also gets its own presence knob.

The best review I can give it is that I'll NEVER sell the thing and I've sold the Soldano, VHT and Bogner heads that I had previous to purchasing this head. If it gets stolen or destroyed by some act of nature then I'll go out and buy another one as soon as the insurance check shows up. It's just that good.

Built on the distinguished heritage of the VC30, the VC15 delivers great tone. 15 watts of amazingly warm or classic bluesy lead tone voiced by three 12AX7's, powered by matched EL84's, and cranked out through its internal 10" speaker.  "Good amp for the money" 2009-06-17
By Steve F (Atlanta, GA USA)
This is a moderately priced tube amp that features channel switching and good build quality. The clean channel is crisp at lower levels, but won't do Fender type cleans at higher levels. Of course, like the Vox Class A amps it's modeled after, it really has it's own sound, it isn't meant to be a Fender. As with a lot of lower powered amps, a little distortion creeps in when the volume is cranked, especially with humbuckers. The drive channel is fine, it delivers a lot of smooth breakup when needed.

The VC15 is lightweight for a tube amp, there's no problem carrying it around, and it appears to be well built. It uses a pair of EL84 power tubes, which are relatively inexpensive, and it doesn't require biasing when replacing tubes, so cost of ownership should be low.
