 "So far so good." 2010-02-16

Ok. I was in the market for a Laney... I have had the HC25 (Hardcore 25 watt) for about 8 or 9 years and fell in love with Laney. I also have a Marshall combo (Valvestate 8080, 80 watt) original owner, and a Peavey Deuce (100 watt combo)which I bought off of a friend. Anyway I have various Boss and DOD overdrive and distortion pedals which I've used with the Deuce but could never get the bite that I looked for. The Marshall was great but it was a single speaker combo amp. Anyway, the small, modest Laney that I have (HC25) plugged into my Tony Iommi GS412S cabinet, 4 x 12 Celestion speakers knocks the socks off of ya.

So, long story short I received this new Laney LX120 amp and plugged into my GS412S cabinet and had really good bottom end but still need to tweak it a bit. I don't quite have the bite of my little amp but still have hope for it. Like I said, some tweaking should do it. It seems like a combination of drive / volume without the feedback. I've played it for about 2 hours with my drummer and have it pretty damn close. You really (at least I do) need the FS2 footswitch to go between the clean and drive channel. Anyway for the price I paid, I'm more than happy with it. Just need to hone in on the sound I want. I have a gig this weekend and will try to get it where I want.

Feel free to hit me up with any questions. Not sure if you can respond to these comments though.
